Space whaler

From 2speccers2tools wiki

As the Super Laser Imminent Doom was inherently unstable, better adapted descendants were inevitably going to appear, one of these is the space whaler.

Though it is named such, the space whaler does not have any whales to hunt, it instead shoots the abundant machine fauna to death for sustenance, as these are comparatively absolutely fucking gigantic there are numerous adaptations in place to prevent it from getting walloped. Firstly, its cells have split into layers, allowing greater stability on both a macroscopic and a microscopic level, also giving it a striped appearance, even if it is still split apart it has developed a limited ability to reproduce by fragmentation, most of the larger bits resulting from one getting torn apart forming into new individuals, they do still reproduce sexually however by spraying their spores together. They do still have 93 genders like their ancestor for sexual reproduction.

Like its ancestor, the space whaler can shoot a ‘laser’ of spores from its ‘mouth’, unlike its ancestor, the space whaler’s laser is much more concentrated, as it has to blast off the hard exoskeleton off of machine fauna to access the edible bits. Most carcasses can last them an insanely long time, as though the space whaler is huge, it is still minuscule compared to the size of its smallest prey item, the piss off (which is 14 km long, aka 14,000 meters), and they hunt alone or in small groups, the space whaler consumes prey tissues through the imminent doom-like cells of its body, while the SUPER LASER uuh.-like ones can only photosynthesize.

Space whalers are notable for the lengths they go through to make sure their larvae survive, since they will be unable to hunt for a long period of time the parents must find them food, after two space whaler’s combine their spores they will scoop up as many as they can in their tentacles and set off, typically in groups, to find, preferably, a large prey item, such as a migratory pissback, they will then blast a small hole into it and insert their spore-laden tentacles, where the fertile spores will germinate into microscopic larvae. The host will generally be protected by the group that laid their spores into it to prevent predators like other space whalers from killing and eating it, the larvae inside will bore through the host’s flesh and grow massively in size (though they will still be tiny compared to the host), when they become adult sized they will blast their way out, ultimately this does little harm to have 260 meter long worms do this to a 60,000 meter long machine fauna, but often times both the newborns and their parents will turn on the prey item after this, blasting it to death (to the best of their ability) and having a feast.

Disturbingly, contrary to what was said earlier, the prey item is often alive by the time the space whalers start eating, as it is very hard to kill such a huge fauna due to their tiny size, they do however always end up killing a prey item, if not from compromising their exoskeleton then by eating their insides out.
