At first glance, the Dingusian floristic kingdom appears to have reached its fullest diversity. While Dingus indeed currently boasts the greatest floral variety of any continent on 2s2tworld, this is not to say the evolution of new flora there has ground to a halt; in fact, this provides a superb opportunity for more specialized forms of flora to arise, such as the beach specialist Saltynom.

Like the related Tiertrunk Nolm, the shrubby Saltynom has made a number of adaptations for beach life. Blade-like fronds grow in dense clusters to minimize salt-induced water loss. The marine salt itself is expelled via a subtly exposed layer of hair-like roots; this is denoted by a ring of salt around the growing patch of an individual Saltynom. The lead which has become so essential for nomflora originating from Dingus now provides structural support at the base of each frond; while the rest of the frond is swayed about by the powerful coastal winds, the lead-rich base ensures that it will very rarely tear off.

Saltynom patches play a significant role in beach ecologies by stabilizing sand dunes - holding them together via their extensive roots. Especially dense groves of dune-borne Saltynoms provide a sturdy buffer against powerful storms for the surrounding beach community. Typical of a nomherb, the Saltynom deposits gametes and spores alike into the wind, which will often be carried quite far. A mutation affecting the flora’s sporophore takes keen advantage of this, now bearing four insporescences to maximize potential of spread. While most spores carried far off are destined to plop straight into the ocean, becoming mere morsels for pelagic fauna - a few have actually settled onto the shores of Kamm, which is now a story shared with the Tiertrunk Nolm; these two related events make this the first instance of nomherb flora viably settling beyond Dingus. When provided with enough space, the Saltynom can also bud clones from runners.
