Nuclear Laxative Poopycells

The Nuclear Laxative Poopycells are to soopyfauna as The Bruh Within are to legobox fauna (and recently Snufflers) - serving an integral role in facilitating the digestive functions of their hosts, those being the Soopierworms and their derivatives and the Asterblob.

The origin of the Nuclear Laxative Poopycells and their prevalence is somewhat convoluted - the first cells of their lineage descended from digestion-resistant sunscreen cells which so happened to be swallowed up by a member of a smaller species of Soopierworm. With the consistent influx of radioactive foodstuffs, successive generations settled well into their hosts. It is also here that they developed horizontal gene transfer, ensuring a much greater eventual genetic diversity. From there, it was easy springboarding off to successive generations of Soopierworm, and eventually also trophic levels - jumping from there to host Ripplets; and from a few hardy cultures surviving beyond their hosts’ perishing they managed to settle in comfortably within Squigglets, Spoopyworms, and Asterblobs. Since then, these microbes and the hosts they inhabit have forged a tight mutualism, with the microbes getting a steady supply of food, and in return minimizing radiation sickness within the larger fauna.

It is difficult to identify the many hundreds of Nuclear Laxative Poopycell species on morphology alone, and with the advent of horizontal gene transfer, boundaries between species are blurred even further. Nonetheless, these microbes can be easy to note as a whole from their host preference and quantities of flagella.

Predictably, cultures of Nuclear Laxative Poopycell are most abundant within soopyfauna which regularly consume radioactive meals.
