This species of glass pane has gained some adaptations to defend itself against the panesmashers and other fauna. It has replaced its ancestor. For one, it is wedge shaped to prevent itself from getting knocked over, and its glass shell is thicker at the bottom than it is at the top. If it does break, it’s usually above the halfway point, meaning the glass wedge can easily regrow. Any shattered bits will probably turn into new glass wedges (if they are not eaten). Glass wedges also secrete a sticky, nutrient-poor sap-like substance when they are touched, which prevents them from being easily climbed and hammered at by a panesmasher. This restricts them to somewhat wetter areas so that they don’t need to conserve as much water.
