As the number of predators increased, the populations of Swimming Radiocritter that lived away from HRI's coastal waters began to feel larger predation pressures and so responded by developing more prominent senses and more efficient swimming. This would lead to the evolution of the Fin-Beater Radiocritter, which has first evolved larger beating fins for quick bursts of speed to evade their predators. Their ventral row of fins help the Fin-Beater Radiocritter with steering, allowing them to make sharp turns when they are being pursued. The most dramatic change is the evolution of a simple eyespot at the very front, allowing the Fin-Beater Radiocritter to detect differences in light and dark. While this primarily evolved for them to detect movement and react, it also meant the Fin-Beater Radiocritter can find the areas with the most sunlight for their bodies to take in sunlight for energy. Much like their ancestor and relatives, the Fin-Beater Radiocritter also gets their energy from takin in spite and their fusiotrophic metabolism. Just like their ancestors, the nucleus membrane of a Fin-Beater Radiocritter cell incorporates lead into it so as to provide shielding so it doesn't irradiate itself to death. Much like their ancestor, the Fin-Beater Radiocritter reproduces by budding and the tiny clones can start swimming right away. When attacked by predators, the Fin-Beater Radiocritter will expel a moderate dosage of radiation along with spite into the water around them, which can be dangerous for the predator and distract an attacker while they swim away.
