As new groups of megafauna evolved with large herbivorous mamals and large Noserps, populations of Guillotine Mamal would specalize in tackling these particular kinds of prey, giving rise to the ferocious Dire Mamal. Being the largest predatory mamals to have evolved yet, the Dire Mamals rely entirely on their brute strength to take down prey, with a multitude of adaptations. The first was their fur-derived scales becoming extremely extensive, now covering all of their body except the underside and the lower parts of the hindlimbs and their hands. These scales also incorporate lead once more, allowing the Dire Mamal to tank laser blasts from species like the Bereikenarm Mamal or the shots from large clongi.

The Dire Mamal has also become extremely muscular, with a large dorsal hump to support powerful neck and jaw muscles while the remants of their ancestral laser has become fully internalized to act as muscle attachments for their throat. While their sickle claws can help with grappling prey, the real business end of the Dire Mamal is their jaws. Their entire face has become shorter so their bite has a lot more focused pressure in a single spot. With all of these adaptations for powering their bite, its not much of a surprise a bite from the Dire Mamal is devastating, being capable of chomping through the armor of other mamals and debilitating the majority of their prey through one well-placed bite to the head or spine. Once a kill is made, their powerful throat pouch can still be inverted to act like a tongue, with the flattened and robust spines pulverizing their food into a fine paste to make digestion relatively easy and resulting in nothing of a carcass being wasted. As the laser is now nothing more than a muscle attachment point, the radiation organ of the Dire Mamal is entirely dedicated to maintaining their body temperature.

The Dire Mamal is the first species of macropredatory radfauna to gain the ability to hear, additionally having by far the most complicated hearing system. The breathing organ of their ancestor and relatives has now become two spiracles, with one looking not that different from other terrestrial radfauna while the other being extremely different due to its adaptations dedicated towards hearing. The front spiracle has its interior lined with specialized hairs to pick up vibrations from the air while a specialized fold of tissue beats against a nerve-filled side of the spiracle and thus transmitting the information quickly to their brain. At the bottom of this structure is a small tube that connects the spiracle to the main channel so air is taken in for respiration.
