The vast ecosystems of the sky, while themselves filled with food, also offered a great vantage point to springboard onto prey far further down, and that’s exactly what the cormorad does. The cormorad’s eyesight is the best in the world so far, staring downwards and able to see prey near the water’s surface with high clarity even from their extremely high vantage point, and then they drop. The cormorad tucks its wings in and dives for it, usually the prey is caught and killed in this motion, but if they miss the cormorad can swim after aquatic prey and snatch it up. To protect from this extreme force the cormorad’s brain cavity is very small, preventing its brain from bouncing about when it slams into the water, the overall skeleton is sturdy enough to survive this however because it is made of lead. All cormorad migrate back to Dingus beach to give birth, their young are much more developed due to a longer period of time before detachment and able to fly, but live more like a seagull at first, soaring about on the coast and eating whatever washes up and they can catch from the water. The cormorad’s grasping claw has reduced due to its large amount of time spent soaring and lack of use in prey capture, the radioactive organ has also been reduced to a hole in the chest to produce thermals when sleeping or in particularly cold skies.
