With the success of the Blobmoss, some began opting for more area to collect light, one lineage went for a large, spine-like protrusion from the top of their body, and counteracted the added weight by shrinking, resulting in the Blobpine. They have a far more reduced range than their ancestor due to their visibility, which has also resulted in them using a tactic of getting light that would be more likely to get them killed elsewhere; an extention of the photosynthetic area. This spine-like protrusion earns them their name, and is used like a massive leaf to gather more sunlight for photosynthesis. One odd thing of note is how their spine periodically heats up every once in a while, though the reason for this is unknown, as it doesn't really seem to have a purpose in doing so, and in fact wastes energy doing this.
