The 'stached Bruh changed its ways from its ancestors and decided to not eat other cells, so instead to took up a diet of eating detritus. To get more detritus, the nose of the 'stached Bruh has developed cillia to manipulate food. To swim faster in order to avoid predators such as other Bruhs, the 'stached Bruh has developed a flagellum. The Flagellum allows it to swim faster for longer periods but is not as good for sharp turns as the cilia of the relatives. They have retained the simple photoreceptors of their ancestors to warn them of incoming danger. They still naturally ingest ambient amounts of spite, incorporating it into their tissues to deter non-bruh predators from eating them.
